Thomas Tousseyn is a 42 year old pathologist from Belgium. He obtained his MD in 2001 at KU Leuven and his PhD in 2009 at the VIB (Bart De Strooper). He did postdoctoral research at the University of California San Francisco. He was trained as a haematopathologist by Christiane De Wolf-Peeters in Leuven and did a fellowship with Randy Gascoyne in Vancouver.

Since 2010 he is responsible for all diagnostic haematopathology at the University Hospitals Leuven and Professor at the Faculty of Medicine at KU Leuven. He is Executive Committee member of the European Association for Haematopathology and president of the Belgian Working Group for Haematopathology.

Since 2013 he holds a mandate for Translational Cancer Research from the Stichting tegen Kanker. Currently, his research focuses on the role of the tumor microenvironment and the Epstein Barr virus in lymphomagenesis in immunodeficient patients. He (co-)authored 135 manuscripts, with 4070 citations, an H-index of 35 and I10-index of 75.
